Kia ora Mosen at Largers. Our amazing community has put together another informative, thought-provoking listen for you, and it’ll be in your podcast app this weekend. Here’s a sneak peak of what you can expect.
Many blind people have been used to hearing it regularly. Someone gets up at a meeting, declares their personal pronouns and offers a short visual description. But when the Vice President of the United States did it this week, it set off an extraordinary torrent of ridicule. We had a great discussion on this subject some months back, with various views expressed about whether it’s either valuable or harmful. In the light of all the controversy, Bonnie and I revisit the topic of visual description.
After I discussed the public evidence I gave recently about the abuse I survived at our school for the blind in New Zealand, others have come forward to talk about this difficult subject.
I speak with Mike Calvo and Matt Campbell from Pneuma Solutions about their new and improved Remote Incident manager. After the interview, I’ll demonstrate three common use cases where this service adds value. It is a useful addition to our accessible toolbox and I think you’ll be impressed.
There’s plenty more on the show as well. If you want to raise something new, you’re very welcome. Please don’t be shy, I’d love to hear from you. What makes Mosen At Large special is the global community we’ve built and all the perspectives we share with each other.
